Prevalence of Sleep Apnea Among American Truck Drivers

With a proposed federal guideline concerning commercial truckers undergoing sleep apnea testing currently pending, the question of the prevalence of the disorder within the trucking industry has risen to the surface. Outside of major trucking company Schneider, most of the industry has resisted the idea of implementing sleep testing, a concerning development given that sleep apnea affects one-fifth of Schneider’s drivers.
